I want to share with you a food about the Japanese enjoying in the New Year.
I would like talking about Rice Mochi.

San-X Sumikko Gurashi Characters to be super soft and cute Mochi Squishy

Mochi is one kind of Japanese Traditional food for New Year, they are general dessert nowadays.
Their main material consists of sweet rice pounded. Then, flour is steamed and used as dough to cover a ball of filling, red bean paste inside typically. They are sticky so covered in dry rice flour.

Japanese celebrate new year in western calendar since the Meiji Restoration (they followed Chinese calendar before the restoration).Although the calendar changed, but the tradition is preserved, the Japanese love the their local culture.

San-X company combines cute Sumikko Gurashi mascot and mochi soft features, launching new squishy.
Sumikko Gurashi Characters with transparent food packaging , it seems like real mochi.
However the White Bear mochi and Cat mochi cannot to be eat :D
